Reflexology is based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet, hands and ears which correspond to every part of the body. By stimulating and applying pressure to the reflexes, we increase circulation and promote specific bodily and muscular functions.
I studied the sliding technique through the North Vancouver Continuing Education Program with Reflexology instructor Ron Leibel. Ron Leibel developed the sliding technique as a method that would be gentle of the practitioner's thumbs and fingers, while offering the same results and benefits as the traditional "thumb walking" routine. Clients enjoy the smooth "massaging" strokes — the aroma therapeutic oils pamper their skin and the end result is not only deeply healing, but also an experience of indulgence and relaxation.
